Congregational Life

There are many opportunities for fellowship throughout the year, both formal and informal.  There is always coffee and sometime snacks before and after worship but the second Sunday of every month is traditionally ‘Soup Sunday’ which is can be soup or another meal provided by volunteers and can sometimes be potluck.

The Fellowship Committee often organizes activities like meals in homes of church members, movie nights, and more.  Some key times of meeting and fellowship take place at Camp CAMREC (Chumstick Area Recreation and Education Center) in Plain, Washington.  Every Labor Day weekend and on the long weekend of TubingMartin Luther King Jr Day, members of the congregation gather at the camp, which belonging to the churches of Washington Mennonite Fellowship.  At camp there is time to enjoy nature, fellowship and gather around organized activities depending on the season.

Some other regular events include, a more informal camping trip organized to the San Juan Islands in August.  In October Mennonites in Washington gather together around the Mennonite Central Committee relief sale and auction.  Volunteers from around Washington gather for this sale in Ritzville, WA to support the relief work of MCC.

In the beginning of November SMC hosts the Ten Thousand Villages Festival, a sale of not-for-profit fairly traded merchandise.  This is a huge volunteer effort on the part church and community members.  Ten Thousand Villages supports craftspeople in developing nations around the world.
